THYGRO: Advanced Climate and Air Quality Control Systems

The Evolution of Environmental Comfort: Thermoregulation, Humidity, and Indoor Air Quality in a Single Smart Ecosystem

The concept of living comfort has undergone a profound transformation in recent years. While adjusting a building's climate in the past simply meant regulating linear temperature, today designers and installers face a complex equation where three fundamental variables converge: temperature, relative humidity, and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).

In this context, the traditional separation between hydraulic systems (responsible for thermal energy distribution) and electrical/building automation systems (responsible for control and management) is no longer sustainable. Modern HVAC engineering requires integrated solutions capable of seamlessly connecting these worlds, simplifying installation while maximizing energy efficiency for end users.
Addressing this technological need, Perry has developed the new THYGRO range, an advanced line of devices that redefines the standards of intelligent temperature control and environmental monitoring.

The Synergy Between Hydraulics and Electronics: Integrated Control

In floor or ceiling radiant systems—which are particularly widespread in new constructions and deep renovations—humidity control is not an option, but a vital technical requirement. Without rigorous dew point monitoring, the risk of surface condensation during summer cooling is extremely high.

The Thygro advanced control unit solves this critical issue by integrating a thermostat and a humidistat into a single compact device equipped with a 3-inch touch screen interface. From an installation perspective, this translates into a massive advantage: a single wall-mounted or flush-mounted control point replaces two or more separate sensors. The device allows users to set fully independent intervention thresholds for controlling boilers, heat pumps, air conditioners, and dehumidification systems.

For electrical professionals, versatility is also reflected in the power supply and installation options: the range includes battery-powered models (3V with 2 AA batteries) for wall or table-base mounting, and 230V mains-powered models suitable for flush-mounting in standard electrical boxes.

Air Quality and VOCs: The Well-being Frontier with Thygro Pure

While the integration of temperature and humidity control is now the standard for advanced systems, the real human-centric breakthrough is driven by indoor air quality monitoring. We spend over 90% of our time indoors, where pollutant concentrations can be up to five times higher than outdoors.

The Thygro Pure version takes a decisive step forward: in addition to temperature and humidity sensors, it features an onboard Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) sensor. The device constantly monitors the presence of gases, fumes, cleaning agents, and bio-effluents, translating the data into a clear indication on the display (such as "Good") and, above all, into an operational command for Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR/VMC) systems or air extraction units.

This provides the perfect meeting point for the plumber designing the air distribution and the electrician wiring the automation: air is refreshed only when and as much as needed, preserving the building's thermal energy while ensuring a consistently healthy environment.

868MHz Wireless Technology: Saying Goodbye to Wiring Constraints

One of the biggest hurdles in system revamping or building renovation is routing cables from the thermostat to hydraulic manifolds or air handling units. Perry overcomes this technological limitation by equipping the Thygro line with a bidirectional 868MHz RF wireless connection, featuring a range that varies from 30 to 80 meters depending on structural obstacles.

This radio ecosystem features specific actuator modules that pave the way for flexible system configurations:

  • RTX01M Transceiver: A flush-mounted module that receives radio inputs from the THYGRO unit to control independent loads. Multiple receivers can be paired with a single thermostat—for instance, controlling one RTX01M for heating and a second RTX01M dedicated exclusively to the dehumidifier—drastically reducing on-site wiring times.

  • RTX01FC Transceiver for Fan Coils: Specifically designed to control fan coil units (2-pipe or 4-pipe systems). It manages 5 relay outputs for fan speeds and valve actuation, alongside a 0-10V modulating output for modern inverter motors, ensuring linear, quiet, and efficient climate control.

Regulatory Efficiency and Multi-Zone Connectivity: Moving Towards Class A

Energy optimization is not just a best practice, but a regulatory requirement governed by strict standards such as UNI-EN ISO 52120-1 (formerly EN 15232) for the classification of Building Automation systems. The Thygro range integrates native features designed to push buildings toward the highest efficiency classes.

Both the Thygro and Thygro Pure models feature a configurable wired input for suspension management, which is highly useful for connecting badge readers in hospitality environments or occupancy sensors. This is complemented by the RTX01CF wireless magnetic window contact: when a window is opened, the sensor promptly sends a radio command that temporarily suspends thermoregulation and ventilation in that specific zone, eliminating energy waste.

However, the true potential for flexibility lies in centralization. All devices in the product line can be connected to Perry’s multi-zone control units. This architecture allows the display and controls of every individual room to be channeled into a single, centralized color touch screen.

Thanks to the native Wi-Fi connectivity of the multi-zone control units, the entire system opens up to the IoT world. End users (as well as maintenance technicians, upon authorization) can monitor and modify temperature, humidity, and air quality parameters remotely in real time, using a practical smartphone App or a dedicated web portal. It is a solution that transforms the thermo-electrical system from a simple technical installation into a true, invisible assistant for daily comfort.
